Heather Suarez
M.Ed., BCBA, LBA
Co-Founder and
Administrative Director
Heather has been working in the field of Special Education and ABA for many years. She loves working one-on-one with her clients, parent coaching, running small groups, and working closely with others in the community. Since founding STEPS in 2009, Heather oversees many facets of the company, including but not limited to administrative responsibilities, supervising BCBAs, and working in school settings to provide supports to individuals and classrooms. Heather and Erin work hand and hand to ensure high quality services for each of our clients and their families.
Heather’s interest for ABA and children with autism formed in 2002 when she was a behavioral therapist for a little girl with autism. This experience led her to the University of Washington where she received her Master’s degree in Early Childhood Special Education and her teaching certificate. During her two years spent in the UW graduate program, she worked at the Experimental Education Unit (EEU). Prior to STEPS, Heather was a BCBA at the University of Washington Autism Center. Currently, Heather serves as Board Chair on the University of Washington Haring Center Board.
Aside to her commitment and love for STEPS, Heather and her husband, Pat, have two very active boys and a dog named, Maui. When Heather is not trying to keep up with her boys you can find her spending time with friends and planning trips.
